In a few weeks’ time, the Polygonica team from MachineWorks Ltd will be returning to the annual Additive Manufacturing Users Group (AMUG). This year’s event will take place from April 3 to April 7 at the Union Station, St Louis, MO. The building was constructed in 1884 and was at one time the largest and busiest passenger rail terminal in the world. It is now considered one of America’s most important historic buildings and is listed as a National Historic Landmark.
This will be the third year in a row that Polygonica will be exhibiting at the AMUG expo, following Tucson in 2014 and Jacksonville in 2015. The event is the focus for all users of additive manufacturing and 3D printing equipment to give and receive information, tips and tricks on additive manufacturing processes and applications.
On display at the Polygonica stand will be innovative new algorithms for processing polygon meshes for 3D printing, including feature recognition, point cloud meshing and defeaturing and shortest path calculation.
These are in addition to improvements to existing capabilities, such as full colour automatic mesh repair, offsetting of open and closed meshes, Boolean operations, and mesh decimation.
Visitors to the stand can try out Polygonica for themselves and test the performance of the meshing algorithms.
Dr David Knight, Polygonica Sales Manager, said: “We’re really excited about returning to the AMUG expo. It’s a unique opportunity to meet real users and experts in additive manufacturing in an informal and relaxed setting, as well as catch up with old and new customers.”

About AMUG
The Additive Manufacturing Users Group's origins date back to the early 1990s when the founding industry users group was called 3D Systems North American Stereolithography Users Group, a user’s group solely focused on the advancement of stereolithography (SL) use with the owners and operators of 3D Systems' equipment. Today, AMUG educates and supports users of all additive manufacturing technologies. The primary charter of the group remains the same, but its members are much more diversified, global and focused in advancing additive manufacturing technology for rapid manufacturing and prototyping.
