Euromold was busy as ever and our booth was no exception. We caught up with many old friends from the CAM world and made plenty of new ones. MachineWorks was demonstrating exciting new features of the latest release MachineWorks v7.3, including mobile operating system support and intelligent multi-threading which were well received among existing customers and prospects.
From a Polygonica point of view, we are still establishing ourselves as leading technology providers for 3D Printing software, but a presentation slot in the design & engineering forum certainly helped. We had many enquiries about our solid healing and mesh processing capabilities following the talk.
On the way from the Hall 11 (where most of the 3D Printing exhibits were located) to our booth in Hall 8 (which was more machine tools and CAD/CAM oriented) visitors would have passed the DMG Mori Seiki booth which was attracting a lot of attention. Although not on the scale of their EMO booth - they took over an entire hall - the unveiling of a hybrid subtractive / additive machine could be a game changer.
Although a year away from production, the promise of combined laser powder deposition, at high build rates, with milling and turning, and from such a large and important manufacturer, could really disrupt both subtractive and additive manufacturing. Needless to say, with our powerful Boolean engine, we at MachineWorks are well equipped to simulate this type of complex hybrid manufacturing process!
