Mesh Analysis
Polygonica provides a number of tools to analyse polygon meshes.
Polygonica has introduced functionality capable of regenerating the original surface information from just the triangulated data automatically. The feature detection algorithm processes a mesh and automatically returns the surface parameterisation of any detected features, as well as their surface area, bounding box, and error values. Applications include reverse engineering, automation and geometry searching.
Highly optimised collision detection and interference analysis is available in Polygonica. It can be used for the simultaneous detection of collisions between large numbers of complex solids. This feature is targeted towards CAD and BIM developers, allowing clash analysis of thousands of static and dynamic parts in just a few seconds.
Polygonica can compare similar meshes to determine the exact difference between them. This feature can be used to compare a manufactured part that has been scanned to the original CAD model.
Polygonica contains advanced algorithms, such as ray-tracing, offsetting, Boolean operations, and solid comparison, which can be combined to automatically determine the suitability of meshes for 3D printing.
As well as remeshing, Polygonica comes with a set of standard geometry manipulation for 2D and 3D models including the creation of 3D support volumes.
These functions include slicing for large area print-beds, spun body creation, silhouette profile creation, solid convex hull creation, interference checking between solids and solid comparison.
The Parasolid Bridge for Polygonica also generates a Parasolid model but based on a general polygon mesh rather than an in-process stock model.
